The Bahrain Music Band was established in 1996 to be an active player in enriching the local cultural scene. The band's first concert, "Oriental Manifestations", was held in April 1998 and was met with widespread enthusiasm and acclaim. This concert was a springboard for a large number of performances in various national events which cemented the band's name in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Once established locally, the band moved on to represent the country in regional and international events. Some of the highlights of those early performances include the 9th Arabic Music Conference and Festival in Cairo in November 2000, and the Bahrain Cultural Days in Kuwait in March 2001. The band was also a constant presence in official ceremonies involving world leaders. As part of its mission to enrich and develop the local art scene, the band also offered scholarships to study musical instruments, as well as spearheading the initiative to establish a music education and training center for Bahraini singers.
